ORIGINAL LATE VICTORIAN VANITY FAIR LIB CARTOON FRAMED PRINT

"MR ABINGTON" - GEORGE ALEXANDER BAIRD - CIRCA 1888-1891

FRAMED - GOOD AS-FOUND USED CONDITION

For sale here is what I believe to be an original late Victorian lithograph/chromolithograph print of one of the famous cartoon illustrations from Vanity Fair showing the jockey "Mr Abington", the pseudonym used by George Alexander Baird during his career in horse racing. The artist is signed "Lib", this is for Liborio Prosperi.

This is a very well know print, I have not removed the print from it's frame but I have looked at it with an eyeglass and I am pretty certain that it is an original late Victorian print and not a modern reproduction, the print does however appear to have been slightly cropped when it was framed, though the image itself has been retained in full.

Including the frame the picture measures approximately 36cm x 20.5cm.

CONDITION: Picture is in very good as-found vintage used condition, the colours are still strong and this has clearly not been hung in direct sunlight for an length of time, the frame shows a chip to the finish on the top portion (See photos), this is reflected in the bargain price but this is still a handsome old print ready to display.

This print is bursting with old world character and is in need of a good new home, not a lot of money for something so charming and with genuine age.
