Songwriter Leo Kottke titled 'Instrumentals: The Chrysalis Years'. Kottke started out as something of a John 

Fahey disciple, a great fingerpick acoustic guitar player. but he quickly developed a talent as a singer-songwriter,

which got him major label contracts with Capitol & Chrysalis in the height of Singer-songwriter popularity in the

1970s. really it's been his guitar playing that built his cult, and this 'all guitar' comp shows off his virtuosity in the

best light. with new-to-disc live and two studio tracks as a ringer for serious fans, this really is a good way to 

check out Kottke for newbies. Blue Note 7243 5 42313 2 2 with 8pp booklet. allmusic.com rates this at 4 stars of 5.
