Peugeot Compass Avantgarde Motorhome, 05 plate, Jan 06
registered. 41000 miles. MOT and service January 2026, no advisories
from MOT or servicing garage.
We have have had this motorhome for 5 years and it has been
generally trouble free. It has been
regularly serviced regardless of mileage.
We have had various parts replaced to ensure reliability including
cam-belt, water pump, brake & clutch pipes.
The body work is all straight except for a score in the rear
panel which does not penetrate the paint.
The interior upholstery is all in good condition including the front
seats.
It is fitted with the usual 3 way (12 volt, 240 volt and
gas) fridge, water pump, wash basin, toilet & shower, gas heater and 2 way
(240 volt and gas) water heater. These
all work but the gas fridge is a bit stubborn to fire up which is usual with
these after a few years. There is a
brand new leisure battery, the old one packed up last weekend and had to be
renewed. There is a 2 bike rack and
towbar. Full service history for last 5 years we have owned it
We are not selling it fully equipped but have included some
cookware, cutlery etc. There is one
part-used gas bottle.
So what is not so good?
Early in its life the motorhome was extensively and professionally
rewired and equipped for some specialist usage.
None of this affects the use of the van but has resulted in some weird
sockets and made good holes where fittings have been removed. It had
a solar panel which sadly came loose and was removed. All of the wiring is intact and my
information is that a new panel could be fitted easily and economically. The original wall covering in the cupboards
and above the cab has come loose but is
not hanging. As this is out of general
sight it’s only a minor consideration.
All of the paper in the living area is new. The rear window has a chip in the edge but
only on the flange, the two windows in the living area are slightly crazed (probably
caused by the sun) but are clear to see through. There was a leak in the roof caused by a
stone or something hitting it. This is
now repaired and everything is dry although there is a little staining of the wall
paper in the bathroom. There is a
reversing camera on the back but this was disconnected by a previous owner. A previous owner changed the radio for an all
singing and dancing one which I have not been able to understand. Also the arial is broken. The inside of the fridge has some minor stain
as has the shower tray. The toilet cove,
not the seat, has a crack.
All in all it is an honest motorhome with a few minor scars due
of it’s years of giving pleasure to people and now it is time for it to enjoy
further adventures in new hands.
To avoid confusion we are in Heathfield East Sussex, not any of the other Heathfields
