'buck a disc' listing. up for auction today is a 1988 issued CD of the 1974 album by the Psychedelic/Roots Rock 

pioneers The Grateful Dead titled 'Best Of: Skeletons From The Closet'. the Dead started out as a Psychedelic 

Jam band (remember Ken Keseys Acid tests? they were the band), did a left turn into Roots Rock (Country & 

Blues) in the early 1970s and made their reputation as a live band, with literally hundreds of live albums since 

the 1970s. this is their first serious compilation album, issued in 1974 when their Roots Rock & 'Europe '72' live

album had raised their star high enough to warrant a good comp. it's got all the essentials from their Roots-Rock

era from 'Truckin'' to 'Casey Jones' and all the faves in-between. a cool buy for someone who wants 'just the hits'

from the early 70s. a 'must have' for GD collectors and fans, and a great buy for non-GD fans. Warner Bros W2 2764 w/4pp booklet. allmusic.com rates this at 3.5 of 5 stars. NOTE this is a BMG direct disc!
