pioneers The Grateful Dead titled 'American Beauty'. the Dead started out as a Psychedelic Jam band (remember

Ken Keseys Acid tests? they were the band), did a left turn into Roots Rock (Country & Blues) in the early 1970s

and made their reputation as a live band, with literally hundreds of live albums since the 1970s. this is their second

album after they took up Roots Rock, and its great, probably their best studio album. FM radio hits like 'truckin', 

'Box Of Rain' & 'Ripple' pushed sales up on this one, while 'Sugar Magnolia' & 'Friend Of The Devil' remained 

in their setlists until they disbanded. a great intro to the band, and a 'must have' for all rock fans. Warner Bros

1893-2 w/4pp booklet. allmusic.com rates this at 5 of 5 stars.  NOTE this is a BMG direct disc!
