Glue Blocks play a vital role in preventing the stairs from squeaking. The add rigidity to where your riser meets your tread. These need to be installed using plenty of wood glue and a screw through the back of the glue block into the tread.
You would typically need 44 for a straight standard height 13 riser staircase. Thats two per tread. You don't have any on your top step as that is usually your landing.
