Great for all survival kits to start a fire in an emergency.

Material: Ferrocerium Magnesium mix.

How to use:

Step 1: Scrape striker provided or survival knife / steel to create a shower of sparks. A protective black layer will normally have to be removed before you get best resaults. 

Step 2: Aim sparks at a small pile of tinder (like paper, leaves, small twig, bark, cotton wool works GREAT etc)
Step 3: Strike down on rod to produce a shower of sparks to ignite your tinder.

TOP TIPS = "BIGGER IS BETTER" - If you have not used before then opt for the largest rod you can affored. Please note like alot of ferro rods these flints come with a protective film over them. So when you start you dont get best performance until a few scraps have taken off the outer layer. Then you will find with practice and use you will get the best perforance from your rod. With practice and trying different strikers and tinder materials you will soon master these rods. Check out Youtube (Search "How to use a Ferro Rod") to see how its done. Try a cotton wool ball as your tinder - GREAT FUN.
