In April 2025, J-11B fighters from the "Liaodong Eagle" Brigade of the PLA Northern Theater Command deployed to the airspace east of Taiwan Island, participating in a multi-theater joint combat training exercise. 

Serving as the primary strike force, these fighters formed a strike group alongside J-16 and J-20 fighters from the Eastern Theater Command, creating a three-sided encirclement of eastern Taiwan. They successfully executed missions such as long-range strikes and simulated Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD), effectively validating their cross-regional joint operational capabilities. 

This deployment marked the first time the "Liaodong Eagle" Brigade's J-11Bs completed a full-system confrontation training mission in the deep-sea airspace east of Taiwan Island.
