📺 THE XL HD IPS SCREEN Upgrade
I am a former electronics engineer and found this Game Gear to have a faulty original screen, so I decided to upgrade it. To say this transforms the Game Gear is an understatement—after struggling with the original poor-quality screen and its battery-eating consumption back in the day, the experience is now modern and playability is on another level. The new screen looks beautiful with vivid colour and sharp graphics. Easily the best screen I've seen and about as good as it gets to my eyes. Please see example photos of original vs upgraded screen. Those tricky games from back in the day are made considerably easier now that you can actually see clearly what's going on on screen!

🛠️ restorative work - the devil is in the detail
In addition to the screen upgrade, I have fully re-capped the mother with high-quality new capacitors. And I don’t mean a "quick and dirty" job like some examples I've seen with capacitors barely attached to dirty PCB pads and dangling all over the place...
My approach: I carefully remove the old capacitors, thoroughly clean away all leaked electrolyte and old solder, clean the PCB pads to as-new condition, then precisely position and solder in the new capacitors. This approach gives the best results and minimises the chance of future failure.
USB-C Power Mod: This unit has been upgraded with a high-quality low ripple-current USB-C power board, allowing you to power the console via USB (high-quality 2M USB-A to USB-C cable included) instead of batteries.
Stereo Sound: For the ultimate audio experience this Game Gear has been further upgraded with a high-quality stereo sound board with twin speakers (OE on the left, new on the right) neatly housed in the custom shell. The result is loud and clear game sound to blast out those catchy 8-Bit Sega tunes!
Cartridge Slot: The pins have been cleaned and reset ('flattening' and oxidation of the pins is a common and often overlooked cause of game cart miss-reads or boot failures).
New Shell: A high quality aftermarket shell has been fitted in a stunning 'Sapphire Blue' colour - it's semi-transparent so you can see the inner workings of the Game Gear whilst being a true eye-catcher.
Glass Bezel: To make the most of the stunning new IPS screen, a new crystal-clear glass bezel has been fitted, with the added bonus of glass being more durable and scratch-resistant than plastic versions.

Compatibility: This Game Gear has been tested with genuine original Sega carts only. Reproduction or multi/flash carts may not work due to compatibility issues.
Not Included: No other games, box, other accessories or batteries (6x AA required if not using USB power) included.
