Up for sale is an exceptional, historically significant lot of three original vintage black and white photographs by Akron, Ohio photographer Walter E. Burton. These pieces showcase masterful elements of the early 20th-century Pictorialism movement, focusing heavily on light texture, soft focus, and dramatic shadows. Burton was an accomplished mid-century American photographer, photojournalist, and author based out of Akron, Ohio. Operating primarily during the 1920s through the 1950s. Beyond fine art, Burton was commissioned for important historical documentary work. Notably, he photographed the famous underground coal mine fires in New Straitsville, Ohio, creating images that are now preserved in the Ohio History Connection Archives.

All three prints come mounted/matted on vintage cardstock, adding a vintage aesthetic. One print features extensive exhibition stamps and darkroom development notes on the reverse, proving its provenance and exhibition history in the early 1940s.
