Hello, up for auction is this used Factory Colt beavertail style from a Colt Defender; a style of the Colt 1911 / 1911a1 Commander / Combat Commander type pistols; grip safety which is a recently made cast / Mim type part. Came off a 2016 production Colt Defender pistol. Mechanically VG, worked fine in the Colt Defender in came from, installed it in Kimber Ultra CDP and Taurus 1911, did not fit up so well in those, see photos. I believe this is a stainless part with a black finish. Finish is VG used, couple little spots, some light use wear, see photos. However, with the narrow safety foot, this is for Colt Series 80 pistols, due to firing pin safety parts. Will also fit in earlier Colts, although this Defender grip safety has an odd shaped safety foot. This requires a .250 tang radius to work properly, which the Colt had from the factory. I have noticed, however, when custom gunsmiths cut the .250 radius tang sometimes it is not consistant, even with factory pistols; or the tang is fitted to a particular grip safety; good example is my old Springfield Armory stainless which had a .250 radius cut by gunsmith (Springfield factory radius tangs are usually .220 radius) but was fitted for a particular safety; this part will not work on that particular pistol. So depending on the frame, some fitting may be needed. Again, worked fine in Defender in came from which is shown in a few photos, but DID NOT work well in a Kimber or Taurus 1911, both which have the .250 radius; so again, depending on your frame, fitting may be needed. Not for standard 1911 grip tang; will not work, and also these beaver tail safeties are intended to be used with round hammers. Again, depending on your frame, fitting may be required for your piece. NOT for Kimber Series II pistols as the narrow foot WILL NOT activate firing pin safety! All 1911's shown are for illustrative purposes ONLY, not part of auction! Part sent USPS for $6.25. The 1911's are shown for illustrative purposes ONLY and not part of auction! Thanks for looking.
