Intricate Latticework: The grid-like openwork in the center of the cross is a hallmark of Ethiopian cross design. This continuous, interwoven pattern traditionally symbolizes everlasting life and the interconnectedness of humanity and faith.

Flared Arms with Motifs: The arms of the cross widen at the ends and feature small stamped or cast circles (sometimes referred to as "eyes").

Architectural Top Section: The triangular or peaked section above the main cross, just below the bail (where the string goes through), is very common in these regional designs and often represents the Holy Trinity or is styled after Ethiopian church architecture.

Lost-Wax Casting: These crosses are traditionally handmade using the "lost-wax" casting method, meaning the original wax mold is destroyed during the process, making each piece unique.
