Matchbox Originals Series No. 5 Double Decker Bus – 1988 Reissue with Box!

This is a Matchbox Originals Series No. 5 Double Decker Bus, produced in 1988 in China as part of Matchbox’s commemorative “Originals” reissue program. The bright red body carries the yellow “Matchbox Originals” advertising panels, which were applied across the line to promote this collector-oriented reissue series that faithfully replicated early Lesney castings.

The bus itself presents in near mint condition. The red paintwork is clean and rich, the wheels are bright, and only a faint rub is visible on the gold front grille. There is also a tiny bit of red overprint on one of the bus side signs, a minor factory quirk. Overall, it displays beautifully with strong color and crisp detail, exactly as intended for collectors in the Originals range. (SEE PICS)

The original box is Excellent, with only a slight crease on one flap and some light handling to edges. One side of the front panel shows a touch of fading, but all flaps and seams are intact, making this a sharp example for display alongside the bus. A fine piece for any collector of the Matchbox Originals Series or as a complement to a Lesney-era display. (SEE PICS)
