1979 ES-335 PRO now in stock! This model is a new ES-335 introduced to the market in 1979.
The ES-335TD, manufactured at the same time, featured small block inlays and a trapeze tailpiece. This model, with its dot inlays and stop tailpiece, at first glance resembles an early ES-335, but something is different.
It even has a dot inlay at the first fret! There are also other versions of this model without the dot at the first fret, giving it a more conventional look.
It seems the specifications changed depending on the production period. The pickups are open-type double black bobbins.
This isn't because the covers have been removed; this is the original specification. They are Gibson's original Dirtyfingers pickups.
At the time, these were Gibson's most powerful pickups. While the idea of equipping a semi-acoustic guitar with high-powered pickups is uncommon today, back then, power was paramount.
As for the sound, this model has a very emphasized bass. That said, it's not overly boomy.
The incredibly sweet and full sound sets it apart from current ES-335s. A super rare model made in a transitional period.

The frets and nut have been replaced, but there is little sign of use since the replacement, and playability is excellent. Pot dates: 13778xx, 13779xx.
The xx is illegible due to soldering, but it is close to the age of the instrument. No signs of replacement.
