Listing: 1 x wooden, folding 3 tier cake stand, from estimated circa 1900 - 1920.

Condition: Used, antique condition. No original packaging, no instructions. This item has been used and stored. The folding mechanism is still functional, although the metal piece supporting the folding mechanism has metal wear and rust, but still moves. There is some surface wear and surface marks. The item could still be used functionally, displayed or collected. From smoke-free and pet free premises.

Description: Antique Edwardian oak folding three-tier cake stand, circa 1900–1920. Featuring three graduated circular shelves supported by a shaped oak frame with decorative curved top rail. Original folding design for easy storage. Attractive oak grain and rich patina throughout. A charming and practical piece for afternoon tea, display, or country-house décor.

Materials: Wooden oak and metal. 

Colour: Brown. 

Three graduated circular tiers for displaying cakes, pastries, sandwiches, or fruit. 

Solid oak construction with attractive grain and figuring visible on the shelves.

Folding/scissor-frame design (common on these stands), allowing it to be collapsed for storage when not in use.

Afternoon tea became a significant social tradition in late Victorian and Edwardian Britain. Folding cake stands were practical because:

• They provided vertical serving space on smaller tables.
• They could be folded away after use.
• They were often moved between drawing rooms and dining rooms.

• Mahogany
• Walnut
• Occasionally bamboo or beech
