Sixteen-year-old Michael Dunn arrives at St. Basil's Catholic Boys School in Brooklyn circa 1965. 

There, he befriends all of the misfits in his class as they collide with the repressive faculty and discover the opposite sex as they come of age.

I had seen this film years ago when I was a teenager and always remembered how funny it was. 

I found it again and saw it was being re-released. 

Superb, with a bit more age you can see the darker elements to the movie too (the sadistic teacher, the shop owner with manic depression) and the love story between two of the main characters. 

It's the humour of the film that still makes me want to watch it however, ok it's toilet humour on the whole but it might remind you of similar things that went on when you were at school. 

The ending is great too, a real gem of a film all round.
