WWI VAD Service Certificate to Mrs Dorothy Forbes Adam
A highly decorative and evocative First World War British Red Cross Society and Order of St John of Jerusalem in England certificate, awarded to Mrs Dorothy Forbes Adam for “valuable services rendered during the War.”
Awarded to Mrs Dorothy Forbes Adam wife of Ronald Forbes Adam who served with distinction in both world wars, latterly as General Sir Ronald Forbes Adam, 2nd Baronet, GCB, DSO, OBE (30 October 1885 – 26 December 1982), Adjutant-General in the British Army, June 1941 to September 1945.
Dating from 1914–1919, this is a good example of visually striking WWI home front medical ephemera with bold Red Cross and St John emblems, calligraphic lettering, named recipient, wartime service context, and strong display appeal.
Condition: Complete. age related handling wear and toning, small mick to top edge, horizontal crease 4 cm above lower edge. Posted rolled in a carton to preserve it from further folds or creasing.
