1939 Christmas / New Year card 

from Colonel Maurice-Henri Gauché and his officers, 

originally sent to the Director of Military Intelligence BEF in France

Gauché was head of the French Army’s 2nd (Deuxième) Bureau Military Intelligence Service 

1939–40 abd based at French General Headquarters, 

he was later Brigadier-General, and author of Le Deuxième Bureau au travail, 1935–1940.

A rare French Army custom designed card, part of an historical archive discovered by the vendor, preserved among a collection of papers found in a Second World War officer’s footlocker owned by Lieutenant-General Sir (Frank) Noel Mason-MacFarlane (1889–1953), Head of Military Intelligence, BEF, 1939-40.
