In the beginning, there was blue. The first draft of a comic book; the architectural plans for a great cathedral; the earliest outlines in an artist’s sketchbook - chances are, they were drawn in blue.

The blue pencil isn’t for everyone. But for the artist, draftsman, and illustrator, it is essential. Blue can easily be edited, erased, and etched over, making it far more flexible than any other color of lead. It simultaneously creates a strong foundation while allowing the final lines and layers to shine through.

This ghost is the third installment of our “No. 2 Pencil” franchise. Unlike the first two pencils - black and red - the blue variant tells the story behind the story. The first draft and early sketch that never sees the light of day - invisible but indispensable, just beneath the surface.
