Large nice antique copper engraved map of the city of Enkhuizen in the Netherlands, by Johan Jansson (or Janssonius) (1588-1664). It features a bird’s-eye view of the city, highlighting the urban layout, fortifications, canals, and surrounding waters. The map is adorned with decorative elements such as elaborate cartouches and coats of arms. The map highlights the city’s defensive structures, underscoring the strategic importance of Enkhuizen. The intricate network of streets and canals is meticulously depicted, showcasing the city’s organization and infrastructure. These add an artistic flourish to the map, often containing the title and additional information. Positioned prominently, these symbols denote the city’s governance and historical significance.

Jan Jansson, or Johannes Janssonius, or Jan Janszoon (1588-1664) was a Dutch cartographer and publisher who lived and worked in Amsterdam in the 17th century. He produced his first maps of France and Italy in 1616.  In 1623 Janssonius owned a bookstore in Frankfurt am Main, later also in Danzig, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Königsberg, Geneva and Lyon. He formed a partnership with his brother in law Henricus Hondius, and together they published atlases as Mercator/Hondius/Janssonius.
