These are genuine, factory-original HERMES 3000 Grey Platen knobs made from tough-as-nails thermoformed plastic that will not crack or chip like the first ones Hermes used. You are purchasing a genuine Hermes knob in a do-it-yourself kit that can be used for either right or left side replacement. No disassembly of your typewriter is necessary, merely remove the broken plastic knob from the spindle hub and mix up a small dab of the provided 2-part epoxy. Apply some epoxy into the replacement knob socket and press it onto the hub and allow it to cure overnight. Please note that this listing is for a single replacement grey platen knob only. The typewriter pictured is not part of this sale, you are purchasing only one (1) grey platen knob installation kit and will receive a new grey knob, enough epoxy to install it, and a printed instruction guide. I began selling and servicing typewriters in 1967 and I sold at least 3 Hermes typewriters a week for 20 years until Hermes ceased production in the 80s, that's ~ 3000 Hermes typewriters! The original knobs were a weakness from day one, and such a problem that Paillard, the Hermes company, authorized dealers like me to replace the broken knobs at no cost to the customer. Every service shop got a number of knobs commensurate with their sales. When we replaced the knobs on a machine, we simply submitted the serial number and were paid by Paillard. Note that these are just bit smaller than the originals, Paillard was providing these as a goodwill gesture so they used the same knob pattern for both the Baby/Rocket machines and the 3000s except the hub bore is a little smaller for a Baby.
