Vehicle Description

1959 BSA A10 Golden Flash - Original Paint Survivor

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

A rare opportunity to own one of the finest surviving examples of BSA's legendary A10 Golden Flash. This 1959 model retains its original factory paint and finishes, showcasing authentic patina and character earned over more than six decades. The motorcycle has undergone a recent professional mechanical restoration -- rebuilt to ride, not just to show. It's currently part of a private display collection in Scottsdale, AZ, where it is started and run regularly to keep everything fresh and functional.

This Golden Flash was formerly owned by Don Harrell, a respected and well-known collector of British motorcycles, recognized for curating some of the best original examples in the country.

Mechanical & Condition Highlights

646cc air-cooled parallel-twin engine, pushrod OHV, 8.25:1 compression ratio 4-speed gearbox with right-foot shift Magneto ignition and Amal carburetion

Matching-numbers frame and engine (verify upon inspection) Starts easily and runs smoothly Excellent mechanicals; electrics and charging system recently serviced

All original finishes -- tank, frame, and tinware remain factory paint Historical Significance The BSA A10 Golden Flash, introduced in 1950, was Birmingham Small Arms Company's answer to Triumph's 650 twin. With its gold-painted tank panels and smooth 100-mph performance, it quickly became one of Britain's most desirable roadsters.

By 1959, BSA had refined the A10 with a swing-arm frame, duplex cradle chassis, and better reliability--making this year one of the most collectible iterations before the model evolved into the Super Rocket. Praised for its balance, torque, and touring comfort, the Golden Flash became known as "The Gentleman's 650"--a refined yet muscular British twin that could hold its own against any rival of the era.
