SACKVILLE-WEST, Vita. The Dark Island. London: The Hogarth Press. 1934. 8vo. First edition, first printing. Publisher’s green cloth boards lettered in slightly darker green to spine, lacking the rare dust jacket. A very good copy. The cloth quite clean and bright, titles legible. A trifle marked and bumped at extremities, but the binding tight and square. Some light stains to textblock edges, with map endpaper and the contents clean and bright throughout without stamps, inscriptions, or foxing. VSW’s darker novel than her previous attempts about the disputed island of Storn.
