1961-62 Los Angeles Jets Ticket & Scorecard/Program *1st Home Game* ABL SCARCE!
Due to uncertainty over the franchise's future, Los Angeles jets management sought a way to entice fans to return for future games while limiting ticket production costs. Their solution was to issue future-game certificates to all attendees, which were then hand-stamped with the specific details of the inaugural franchise home game the fans were currently attending. Meaning this ticket was for the debut and first ever home game held at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena following a Globetrotter doubleheader performance on October 30th 1961 (as seen on the back of the scorecard schedule)
The Los Angeles Jets inaugural season in the ABL was the 1961-62 season, but mid-season the team folded. This has made any memorabilia from the Jets very rare and desirable. What I have made available for auction is quite remarkable. I purchased these items from a collector whose father initially owned shares of the Jets going into the season. Included in this lot is a scorecard that based on my research I think is also from the inaugural home game of the Jets Franchise. Early on it appears they left the opponent on the scorecard blank compared to other examples I have seen of later games. I am guessing because of the uncertainty of their future opponents for the first season.
