Os Diagonais ‎– Cada Um Na Sua

Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo, 180g, Brown Translucent

Os Diagonais are part of a curious Brazilian tradition: vocal groups that, even without being credited on the technical sheets, lend their talent to brighten other people's records in a decisive and striking way.

“Cada Um Na Sua” is the group’s second LP, released by RCA in 1971, by the then quartet. An extremely rare item, sought after by rappers, DJs and collectors, its history is directly linked to a great singer, musician and composer: Genival Cassiano. An initial member of Os Diagonais and brother of Amaro and Camarão, he is a “hidden part” in this work where black music from Brazil began to appear strongly on the charts.

Available in the following format:

• Colored LP (translucent brown)
• Simple pasted cover
• Envelope with lyrics and technical information
• Unpublished text signed by researcher Manuel Filho

🎷 Album Description: Os Diagonais – Cada Um Na Sua (1971)
Cada Um Na Sua, the landmark 1971 album by Os Diagonais, stands as a cornerstone of Brazilian soul, blending lush vocal harmonies with the irresistible grooves of samba, bossa nova, funk, and American soul. Led by Luís Melodia’s father, Zezé Motta’s collaborator Hyldon, and Cassiano (the genius behind many of Tim Maia’s classics), Os Diagonais helped define what would become known as "soul brasileiro."

This album is drenched in sun-kissed melodies, tight brass arrangements, and smooth, romantic vocal interplay, echoing the influence of The Temptations and Curtis Mayfield, yet rooted in the unique rhythms and emotional sensibilities of Rio de Janeiro's suburbs. The title track, along with songs like "O Primeiro Amor" and "Falso Amor Sincero," exemplify the group's balance of streetwise soul and samba cool.

Though lesser known internationally than peers like Tim Maia or Jorge Ben, Cada Um Na Sua is a cult classic among vinyl collectors and diggers of Brazilian rare groove, celebrated for its warm analog production, emotional depth, and timeless swing.
