Up for your consideration is this lovely Limoges Hand Painted Porcelain Butter Tub with Insert, 2 piece set. It has a beautiful hand painted floral pattern with a gold accent. Delicately hand painted pink & beige blossoms with a minty green foliage on a white background. It was made Made by Tressemanes & Vogt Limoges France. It has the artist signed marked. I believe this hallmark dates to 1890-1910. It is quite special that something utilitarian such as this has survived together all of these years. The Porcelain insert is completely removable, it is used to separate the milk from the butter. You can use it now with some chipped ice in the bottom and use the separator that way. It has a center hole that allows you to lift it out with your finger. It measures 5 5/8" in diameter including the handles that have a slight flare to them. The diameter is 5" without. it is 2" tall at the height of the well. Both pieces are in beautiful condition and free of chips or cracks. There is minor gold loss to the rim as shown in the photos. In Great Vintage Condition.
