VINTAGE
FLUID OIL COLORS
35-4 FRENCH WASHED OCHRE
PITTSBURGH PAINT GLASS CO.
This oil stain is old. VERY
old.
The can is full, never opened.
Contacted manufacturer
about it and of course it’s past it’s shelf life. But because it has never been
opened and it is oil; It probably still works. The color of it may be in
question…
It is a
hazardous material. Shipped by land only so the shipping cost may be a little
higher. Sorry.
I vacuum
packed it for a layer of safety.
What Color Is Ochre?
Various tones of red,
brown, and yellow are produced by a mixture of clay and sand that contain iron
oxide, also known as ferric oxide. A warm and earthy color, ochre can be described as being a yellowish-brown
color.
However, some variants contain more hematite, which is chemically
similar to what we know as rust, and this has more of a reddish undertone and
is known as red ochre.
The naturally occurring
yellow ochre contains hydrated iron oxide, when heated, water evaporates and
produces the red ochre color. There are also various other shades of ochre that
range from having more of a brown or golden undertone.
