This book aims to be useful to players of chess at all levels and stayed in print for many decades.
The page edges have browned and there is a little mottling.
The spine has a fold in it and the cover is showing signs of being used.

The seventeenth edition of a book first published in 1902.
The book feels well used, there is some damage to the spine and cover corners and the cover is probably very dirty.
There is some mottling on the pages, and some annotation in pencil.

This book was originally published in 1931. This is a 1947 reprint.
There is no dust jacket.
The cover has not survived the years well and is very marked, especially around the edges and on the spine.
The price is written in pencil on the first page. The first few pages in front and back have slight mottling. All pages are yellowing.
The original receipt from Foyles in Charing Cross Road, London is included.
