Vintage Italian Guitar, Meazzi Hollywood Jupiter, 1960s Offset, EKO alternative, Rare Active Electronics, Restored Circuit.
Overview
Up for sale is a rare icon of Italian guitar design: the Meazzi Jupiter, released under the famous "Hollywood" brand. Meazzi was a pioneer of the Milanese music scene, and the Jupiter is celebrated for its avant-garde "Space Age" aesthetic and advanced electronics. This specimen has been technically overhauled and is one of the few examples on the market with a fully functional circuit.
Condition & Technical Specs
Electronics: Professionally serviced and 100% functional according to the original factory schematic.
Playability: The neck is in excellent condition with a professional setup. It features a perfectly low action, making it a joy to play.
Bridge & Tremolo: Please note that the bridge and the tremolo arm are likely non-original replacements from a similar era. They fit the visual style of the guitar perfectly.
Tremolo Detail: The tremolo system is functional but currently operates without the internal tension spring. The arm remains suspended, allowing for vibrato use, but with less resistance/counter-pressure than a standard spring-loaded setup.
Visuals: The original Green-to-Black Sunburst finish shows beautiful vintage patina and is very well-preserved for its age.
Innovative "Hybrid" Circuitry
The Jupiter was decades ahead of its time, featuring a unique Active/Passive electronic layout:
Active Bridge Pickup: The bridge pickup is connected to an onboard battery-powered preamp. When activated via the toggle, it delivers an aggressive, high-output "bite" with incredible clarity.
Passive Neck Pickup: The neck pickup remains fully passive, providing that warm, woody, and percussive "chime" typical of high-quality 1960s Italian pickups.
Tone Shaping: The distinctive "semicircle" sliders allow you to blend the signals. You can mix the high-energy active bridge output with the smooth passive neck tone, offering a spectrum of sounds unique to this model.
Why Meazzi Hollywood?
Meazzi (famous for the Echomatic tape delays used by Hank Marvin) built instruments that were often more sophisticated than their competitors. The Jupiter represents the pinnacle of their solid-body engineering—a professional-grade instrument that combined Italian style with experimental technology.
