Title: Antique Enterprise Star Polisher Sad Iron Philadelphia Pat'd 1867 1877 Cast Iron
Description: Antique Enterprise Manufacturing Company Star Polisher Sad Iron (Solid / Heavy Iron) from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This classic cold handle cast iron smoothing iron features the desirable perforated handle design and is clearly marked with the company name, location, and two patent dates: October 1, 1867 (U.S. Patent) and January 16, 1877 (International Patent).
Once you separate the two pieces (center bolt has been loosened with WD-40), you'll see large, boldly stamped "77" on the inside of the base — this is the model number for the Star Polisher No. 77.The "Star Polisher" was a popular model in the late 1800s, known for its quality construction and practical design that kept the handle cooler during use. Perfect for collectors of antique laundry tools, early American household ironware, or rustic farmhouse decor. A genuine piece of 19th century American manufacturing history.
Condition: (see pictures) Original, untouched condition with authentic surface rust and heavy patina throughout. The center bolt has been carefully removed to separate the top handle assembly from the base. Both the bolt threads and the mating grooves have been treated with WD-40, so the two pieces now separate and reassemble easily. All markings remain clearly visible. No cracks, breaks, or damage. Structurally sound and ready to display or use.
