Nice antique copper engraved world map by Johann Michael Probst.
Johann Michael Probst (the Younger, 1757-1809), was a German engraver and publisher based in Augsburg. With his brothers, he inherited the firm of their father Joahnn Michael Probst (1727-1776) upon his death. In terms of publishing, the Probst family is notable for purchasing some copperplates previously belonging to Matteus Seutter (1678-1757), the rest going to Conrad Tobias Lotter (1717-1777), from which several of Seutter's maps were reissued in the late 18th century.
Condition : very good condition, on strong paper, old colors
