White Fang is one of the most popular novels by Jack London (1876-1916) about a wolf-dog that becomes domesticated, essentially the opposite narrative and companion work to The Call of The Wild published three years earlier.
The illustrations are the work of Charles Livingston Bull (1874-1932), a prolific illustrator and the premier wildlife artist of his day. One of his early successes was contributing imagery for Jack London’s The Call of the Wild when it was serialized in 1903. The work showcased the qualities that would define Bull's career: anatomical accuracy, palpable motion, and strong design, influenced by Art Nouveau and Japanese woodblock prints. By the time of his death in 1932, Bull had produced thousands of illustrations for books, magazines, and posters. (Source: Clayt Lennox)
