An early fine spear thrower collected in Western Australia pre 1940's. Carved from hardwood the face of the thrower has a deeply engraved design and although it appears unfinished, something that is not always considered desirable, the deeply incised diamond motif is in fact enhanced by the negative space on either side, offering an alternative and striking perspective on what may have been the intended final design. The reverse is decorated with a series of small finely rendered footprints running vertically from top to bottom. The peg atop is intact and securely held with resin and the handgrip has its stone cutting tula embedded in resin. It measures 60cm in length. Registered Post within Australia will be $15AU. Standard Airmail to the US will be $42.20AU and anywhere in Europe $48.30AU
