This listing is for a vintage manual glass food chopper with a red wooden handle, stainless steel chopping blades, and the original wooden insert at the bottom of the jar designed to protect the blade and glass during use.
The glass jar is crystal clear and in excellent condition, with embossed measuring marks in cups on both sides of the jar. There is no cloudiness, haze, or discoloration to the glass. No cracks or chips were noted.
The chopper operates by pumping the handle up and down, turning the multi-blade cutter inside the jar for chopping onions, nuts, herbs, and similar foods. The blades are clearly stamped “Stainless Steel” and are in outstanding condition, showing little to no wear and appearing nearly new. The wooden handle is solid and firmly attached. The wooden insert is present and intact, helping prevent the blade from striking the glass during operation, a piece that is often missing on these vintage choppers.
Based on design, materials, and construction, this piece dates to the mid-20th century, circa 1950s to early 1960s.
The metal lid and shaft show light surface wear and patina consistent with age and normal handling.
A very clean, complete, and well-preserved example of a classic vintage kitchen tool, suitable for use, display, or a vintage kitchen collection. Please see pictures for condition and details, as they are part of the description.
I try to describe everything plain and honest, just like I’d want if I were buying it myself. These items have had a life before finding their way to me, so be sure to check the photos and let me know if you’re wondering about anything at all.
