Original Official Souvenir Program- Democratic National Convention, held in Houston, Texas on June 26, 1928. Published by Standard Printing & Lithographing Co., Houston. This was issued to delegates and attendees during the historic convention and represents a pivotal moment in U.S. history- the nomination of Governor Al Smith as the first Catholic Major-party presidential candidate, and the first Democratic convention held in the South since the Civil War. Programs of this age are rarely offered, especially in such well-preserved condition, and are seldom seen outside of university archives and presidential libraries. The original binding is intact with expected age toning. The front cover has a small section torn from the bottom right corner, approx. 4 pages mid-way through the book having a small tear on the bottom right corners, a small tear on the bottom of the spine, a couple small tears on the back cover, and some print transfer staining on the introduction page, as well as the back page. Considering this program is a paperback and is knocking on the door of 100 years old, I'm genuinely impressed it's survived in this well of condition. The printing and photos on the pages are still in great condition. Very legible with minimal creasing or staining throughout. Own a true piece of American History. This 1928 DNC Program is nearly a Century old, historically significant, and rarely offered. A must-have for serious collectors- don't miss it!
Program will be very well protected during shipping.
