This stunning 1981 Fedoskino Russian lacquer box features a classic hand-painted Troika (three-horse sleigh) winter scene. Produced at the world-renowned Fedoskino Factory of Miniature Painting near Moscow, the lid is signed by artist Melgunova and dated “Федоскино 1981г.” on the front edge.
The vibrant oil painting depicts three children in colorful traditional Russian clothing riding in a wooden sleigh pulled by three galloping horses across a snowy dusk landscape. The box is crafted in the authentic Fedoskino style: glossy black lacquer over a papier-mâché base with a brilliant red lacquer interior.
