STRONG WATER BY Charles LE BRUN

“PROFILE PORTRAIT”

Rare etching measuring 24 cm by 17.5 cm at the base, published by Louis Crepy (1680-?), rue St Jacques in St Pierre, representing two stages of a profile portrait.

Plate numbered "5" at the top left. Print on 18th century laid paper.

This etching is engraved on a sheet of medium-thick ecru laid paper watermarked with a griffin from the first half of the 18th century (see photo 6 for transparency).

The sheet measures approximately 35cm wide by 22.5cm high, with uncut borders.

Note just a few folds at the corners (apart from the bowl) and a slight, very regular yellowing of the paper. Also note 2 very small holes in the left margin, approximately 2 cm outside the bowl (see back photo).

Engraving sold without frame.
