There are four ranks (degrees) of RAOB membership and each having their own distinctive regalia with the ‘Roll of Honor’ being the highest. Promotion to higher degrees is by virtue of service, commitment and attendance. This is reflected in the motto Palma non sine pulvere (No reward without effort).
1st Degree - Brother, symbolised by the kangaroo emblem.
2nd Degree - Primo.
3rd Degree - Knight Order of Merit (KoM).
4th Degree - Roll of Honor (RoH).
The RAOB were founded in 1822 and are still active as a fraternal society devoted to charitable work within their local communities and assisting other members in times of need. Their motto is ‘Justice, Truth & Philanthropy’ which is often seen on their medals and badges.
