Up for auction is this charming vintage Kienzle Swiss-made men's dress watch, estimated to date from the mid-1960s — a well-crafted timepiece from one of Europe's most storied watch manufacturers.
The watch features a clean, elegant sunburst silver dial with applied black baton hour markers and matching dauphine-style hands. "Kienzle Swiss" is printed above center, with "17 Jewels / Shockproof" and "Swiss Made" below — all hallmarks of quality Swiss export watches of this era.
The cushion-shaped case is gold plate over base metal with a stainless steel snap-back, stamped "Stainless Steel Back / Anti-Magnetic / Waterprotected."
The cas is in very good condition, with 90% plus of the plating intact. It shows only light, normal wear. The case back is smooth and solid with no engravings, making it a clean example.
The acrylic crystal is flawless and is likely replacement.
The movement is a Swiss-made 17-jewel FHF manual wind ebauche, Typical of quality mid-range Swiss export watches of the 1960s.
READ--> It is running, but is clearly in need of a servicing. Amplitude is low, and timekeeping is erratic, and it is running quite fast.
A good clean / oil service should restore performance to nominal.
This interesting watch comes on a new, genuine leather strap as shown.
As with all my vintage watch auctions, this one will start at $1, with no reserve. You set the price!
