This ticket admitted a guest to the live radio broadcast where legendary actor Edward G. Robinson performed in a live radio adaptation of Little Caesar. It had Robinson reprising the exact role that made him a star which was the ruthless gangster 'Rico Bandello' from the groundbreaking 1931 Warner Bros. gangster film titled 'Little Caesar'. That film helped define the entire Golden Age gangster genre, and Robinson’s portrayal of Rico remains one of the most iconic performances in classic cinema. Fifteen years after the film’s release, Robinson returned to the role live on national radio, performing the story again before a studio audience at CBS Columbia Square in Hollywood. Audience members holding tickets like this actually watched the actors perform at standing microphones while musicians and sound-effects artists recreated the drama in real time for the CBS broadcast.
