1994 Custom 22 Employee Model now in stock!
The bridge pickup cavity is marked 'MARSHA CARTER EMP GTR', confirming this is an Employee Guitar awarded to PRS employees who contributed to the company.
Marsha Carter appears to have been a female staff member at PRS, though no official documentation exists to confirm this. Additionally, the same cavity bears the inscription 'SEE MIKE MASON'.
The body top is high-grade maple with a classic PRS-style figured grain, representative of the era's standard. The original color has faded and is unclear, but vivid blue is visible on the lower right of the body top and beneath each escutcheon. The body back features the classic, standard mahogany with superb wood selection. The neck is also mahogany, with Paul's signature visible beneath the finish on the back of the nut, adding a premium feel. The neck profile is Wide Fat. The pickups are original: 'Dragon Bass' and 'Dragon Treble'. The controls feature the iconic 5-way rotary switch of the era.
The headstock top, while not rosewood veneer, features an inlaid gold logo with its original clear finish intact. The fingerboard is Indian rosewood. The gold hardware evokes the top-tier Artist Grade models of the era.
The body shows some scuff marks and polishing marks. There is a small, pen-tip-like mark near the top of the rear pickup. The body back contour is subtle, and the edges are more rounded compared to current models, making it irresistible to fans. The faded color looks cool, and it's in excellent condition without any cloudiness. There is some plating wear on the 6th string saddle. That said, there are faint finger marks on the lower positions, suggesting the previous owner loved the sound and treated it with care. The hard case is the standard type, not the Artist Grade one. There are no papers. Because it's an Employ...
Spec-wise, I consider it around Artist Grade level. While not exceptionally unique, it's based on the Custom 22 series starting in '93. As an Employ model, it offers a special story for Custom 22 enthusiasts. Naturally, it's also a recommended piece for Employ collectors and PRS freaks.
