Jewelry occupied a leading place in Ukrainian traditional costume. Women often supplemented their outfit with a dukach - an accessory in the form of a large medal-shaped coin with a metal bow covered with stones.
Dukach - an old Ukrainian festive metal decoration. In my jewelry, the dukacha stone is turquoise, the material is metal, an analog of melchior. Nowadays, dukach is gaining popularity, it is the prototype of a choker. The main element of the jewelry is a medallion (coin, heart), which was usually complemented by additional jewelry elements such as a bow, cast, etc. Round-shaped coins, tokens, Western European tabletop religious medals, military awards, tokens, and more were used as medallions in dukachas. I depict a pair of kissing doves. This is a symbol of family happiness and love. Dukach performed the function of a female amulet, and in time was passed on to the daughter by inheritance.
