A Rare Antique Joseph Rodgers (& Sons) 1920 Sterling Silver Christening Spoon Engraved with the name 'Zoe'.
A beautifully crafted piece of cutlery from the early 20th century.
The hallmarks identify the piece as follows:
Crown: The town mark for Sheffield.
Lion Passant (Walking Lion): The standard mark for .925 Sterling Silver.
Date letter "c" In this specific typeface and shield shape for Sheffield, I believe indicates the year 1920.
While the final stamp is heavily worn, it appears to be the iconic Star & Cross trademark of Joseph Rodgers & Sons. You can faintly discern the edges of the star.
Lovely antique condition, considering this to be a christening spoon it has most likely been displayed and never formally used.
I have tried to accurately describe and show every angle of the item in my photographs, please study
