Antique 19th century oval portrait miniature, signed “HIL,” housed in its original deep red velvet frame with convex protective glass.

The portrait depicts a young woman with softly curled blonde hair, dressed in period attire with lace collar and dark shawl. The delicate modeling of the face and finely rendered highlights in the hair suggest mid-19th century Continental workmanship, circa 1840–1870.

The miniature is painted on a thin plaque/panel and secured within a gilt metal bezel. The frame retains its original velvet covering and suspension loop.

Signature: “HIL” visible at right side.

Frame: Oval velvet-covered frame with hanging loop.

Backing: Original textile-covered panel backing with small tacks.

Condition:

• Light surface dust and age wear

• Velvet shows minor handling wear consistent with age

• No visible cracks to glass

• Structurally sound
