Pair Vintage Mexican Folk
Art Angel Candleholders Dona Natividad Pena Tzintzutza
Artes Folklorico presents
a vintage pair of Mexican pottery candleholders by the celebrated Dona
Natividad Pena. Her studio was in
Tzintzuntzan, Michoacan, Mexico. We date
these candleholders to circa 1950s-70s.
Each candleholder represents an angel praying with hands together and
head bowed. These are sculptural jewels,
each featuring wings, a candle holder, and a handle for carrying. They are quite large (and heavy), measuring
approximately 8-inches in height, 6-inches in length, and 4-1/2 inches in width. Both are in very good vintage condition, with
no cracks or breaks, and some wear commensurate with their age (see
pictures). Please take a look at the
other vintage Mexican pottery and folk art we have up for sale.
