A turntable mat made of butyl rubber that inherits the shape of the “MJ-12” while offering superior vibration absorption.
The grip force of butyl rubber, which has a high friction coefficient, improves adhesion to the record and prevents slippage. Even when playing with a high-tracking-force cartridge, the record does not slip, ensuring consistently stable playback.
Tungsten, known as a vibration-damping material equivalent to gold in density (specific gravity 19) and used as a lead substitute, is blended into the butyl rubber. The synergistic effect of butyl rubber—which offers superior low rebound and vibration absorption among rubber materials—and tungsten absorbs unwanted vibrations generated by the turntable. This achieves clear, unclouded sound reproduction.
Featuring a 1.0° upward taper from the center to the outer edge, the platter corrects record warping by maintaining close contact with the tapered surface. This stabilizes stylus movement and dramatically improves groove tracking.
The taper incorporates a total of 18 tuning holes, eliminating the tendency for rubber-based materials to become dead. This reduces only the unwanted noise associated with vibrations without compromising the dynamic feel. The tuning holes also function as finger grooves for smooth removal of 10-inch and EP records.
The outer edge of the “BR-12” features a round taper for easy finger grip, allowing smooth removal from the turntable.
・The outer diameter of 294mm allows for smooth removal of LP records (diameter 300mm).
By maintaining the same 5mm thickness as the turntable mats included with many record players, replacement with accessories is possible without adjusting the tone arm height.
Includes a convenient stroboscope overhang gauge (made of laminated coated cardboard) for record player adjustments.
<Usage Notes>
When dirty, wash with water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Do not wipe with oil, organic solvents, or alcohol, as they may degrade the rubber.
To ensure the record adheres tightly to the tapered surface, we recommend using a record stabilizer weighing 300g or more.
Refer to your record player and tonearm manuals for the correct overhang gauge value.
To use the stroboscope, separately prepare an LED bulb (AC 50Hz/60Hz compatible), a fluorescent lamp (non-inverter type), and a stroboscope trigger.
