At one point in time Tiffany & Co. owned and operated a glass factory in Salem, West Virginia. It produced a series of wine and beverage glasses under the Tiffany logo and were sold in all Tiffany stores. Each and every piece was handcrafted and mouth blown. No two pieces were exactly alike.

Because the production volume for Tiffany was not large enough to pay for manufacturing costs, a separate division, Judel Products, was tasked with selling glassware to high-end restaurants, hotels, country clubs and resorts. Most of these glasses were produced in separate designs and styles with the exception of a few Tiffany designs. Those glasses, for various subtle reasons, did not make the final cut for the Tiffany logo and instead were marketed by Judel with its logo.

Economics, particularly after 9-11, no longer met the margins and the decision was made to cease operations.

I was an executive with Judel and sadly, cleared out the Westchester NY offices. I could not bear to destroy so many beautiful pieces and kept in storage as many as I could. I'm currently downsizing and will start selling these lone survivors starting with these martini glasses.

The tactile feel of a mouth blown glass's stem is an elegant experience, for a modest price.
