Title of the map:

"Les Duchez de Parme et Plaisance, de Modene et de Rege par N. de Fer....1705"

Antique copper engraved map by Nicolas DE FER (1646-1720), dated 1702, 18th century. The map is engraved by Inselin.

The map is meticulously engraved with a focus on delineating the duchies of Parma, Piacenza, Modena, and Reggio. Various towns and cities are marked, with major ones highlighted prominently. The map features inscriptions indicating the surrounding regions, such as the "Duché de Milan" to the north, and "Grand Duché de Toscane" to the south. The map delineates borders with colored lines and includes roads connecting major cities, providing insights into the transportation and communication routes of the time.

The map was created during a time when cartography was essential for political, economic, and military purposes, reflecting the territorial and administrative complexities of early 18th-century Italy. Italy was not a unified country at this time, and the map reflects the fragmented nature of its political landscape, divided into various duchies and states under different rulers.
