Antique Jerusalem Pilgrim’s Cross, also known as the Signum Sacri Itineris Hierosolymitani, associated with pilgrimage to the Holy Land and instituted under Pope Leo XIII in the early 20th century.

This example appears to be the bronze grade and features:

• Portrait of Pope Leo XIII
• Detailed Christian religious scenes on both sides
• Latin inscriptions including CHRISTI AMOR CRUCIFIXI TRAXIT NOS
• Reverse inscription SIGNUM SACRI ITINERIS HIEROSOL.
• Period-style red ribbon with blue, white and yellow stripes
• Pin-back suspension bar marked JERUSALEM

The medal has a substantial dark patina with some green oxidation, consistent with age. The ribbon also shows wear and creasing. It has not been polished or restored.
