Near the Murik Lakes in Papua New Guinea's East Sepik Province, you'll find the Murik people, who are part of the larger Sepik River cultural area, known for their connection to the river, unique art, and traditions like the crocodile-inspired Chambri tribe's initiation rites.

This ancestor figure is from the Maprik tribe.  Circa 1950s.  Acquired from an energy engineer who spent the 1950's decade in PNG . .  . traveling extensively.  This is NOT a tourist piece.
